Modern Cloth Nappies (MCNs)

What’s the difference between Modern Cloth Nappies and the old-style cotton squares?

Modern Cloth Nappies (MCNs) are designed for simplicity. No folding, no pins, no origami skills required. They fit snugly, reduce leaks, and make nappy changes faster and easier.

How many nappies do I need to get started?

  • 10 nappies → part-time use
  • 20 nappies → full-time cloth nappying

Why are cloth nappies better for babies than disposables?

Disposable nappies contain chemicals, fragrances, gels and plastics that sit against your baby’s sensitive skin. Cloth nappies are breathable, natural and reduce the chance of rashes.

Should I wash my new nappies and inserts before first use?

Yes — this removes manufacturing residue and helps build absorbency. Inserts get more absorbent after several washes.

Do cloth nappies help with faster toilet training?

Yes! Studies show that babies in cloth nappies often toilet-train earlier because they naturally learn the sensation of being wet.

Are MCNs better for the planet?

Absolutely. Disposable nappies take hundreds of years to break down. Cloth nappies drastically reduce landfill and your household waste footprint.

Do your nappies come with inserts?

Some packs do — it is clearly stated on the product page. Many parents prefer choosing inserts separately because different types (charcoal, bamboo, slim, night boosters) suit different needs.

Why are my nappies leaking?

Most leaks happen due to:

  • Residue build-up from supermarket detergents
  • Too much detergent in the wash
  • Inserts not pre-washed enough
  • Incorrect fit around legs or waist

Using our soap-free Eco Laundry Powder and rinsing well usually solves the issue.

How do I strip-wash cloth nappies if they stop absorbing properly?

  1. Warm wash — no detergent
  2. Warm to hot wash — add a few drops of dishwashing liquid
  3. Rinse well
  4. Repeat rinse if bubbles remain

Bamboo Nappy Liners

Three rolls of 100% Bamboo Nappy Liners with labels on a white background

Why use bamboo nappy liners?

They:

  • Keep baby’s skin dry and comfortable
  • Catch the solids for easier clean-ups
  • Reduce staining on nappies
  • Are biodegradable and gentle on sensitive skin

Are bamboo nappy liners safe for septic systems?

They break down quickly — but check with your plumber if you have a sensitive septic system. If in doubt, bin them to avoid expensive plumbing repairs.

Bamboo Breast Pads

Which way do I wear the reusable breast pads?

  • Soft bamboo layer → against the skin
  • Waterproof layer → toward your bra

Reusable Inserts & Boosters

My baby is a heavy wetter — do I need extra inserts?

Yes. Add a night booster or change more frequently. Hemp and charcoal inserts are perfect for high absorbency.

Where should I place the night booster?

Option 1:

  • Place the booster on top of the main insert
  • Slide both into the pocket (booster closest to baby)

Option 2:

  • Tuck the booster inside the folded insert
  • Clip in place

Do not place the booster directly on baby’s skin.

Eco Laundry Powder

What makes Kindy Ecobaby’s Laundry Powder different?

Our Eco Laundry Powder is:

  • Soap-free (no residue)
  • Chemical-free
  • Perfume-free
  • Gentle on sensitive skin
  • Designed specifically for cloth nappies
  • Grey-water safe

Regular detergents can leave films on inserts and cause leaks — ours won’t.
